After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University, Richard’s career started in 1983 as a quality control technician for a regional construction firm. In 1991, Richard was named president of this firm, a position he held until June 2013 when he and other co-workers bought this firm’s backlog and ReliantSouth was formed. During his career, Richard obtained his MBA from Auburn University; achieved the status of a Florida Licensed Professional Engineer, Florida Certified Underground Contractor; as well as became a Certified General Contractor in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Mississippi. With the help and support of many key people, Richard launched ReliantSouth Construction Group where he continues to live out his mission of assembling a talented, integrity filled team that provides value and solutions to clients.
Richard and Kim are celebrating 44 years of marriage. They have three daughters, and four grandchildren, who fondly call him “Pop”. Richard is an adjunct professor at Gulf Coast State College teaching the next generation of construction professionals. Richard hosts a Wednesday morning Men’s Small Group at the office where many ReliantSouth team members as well as local businessmen gather to grow in their faith and encourage one another.
